Tamil historic fiction action adventure ‘Yaathisai’ is all set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in just a couple of days. Helmed by Dharani Rasendran, ‘Yaathisai’ received great acclaim on its theatrical release despite some very notable flaws.
‘Yaathisai’ is a periodical fiction based on the 7th-century Pandiyan prince Ranadheeran who ruled during a time when the Chola dynasty lost its power and its people were forced to live in the woods. The film follows Kothi, a courageous man from Einar clan who goes on a journey to free his clan by revolting against Ranadheeran Pandiyan who has established himself as the supreme leader.
The film impresses with its excellent storyline, well choreographed action sequences, decent performances and historical accuracy. But due to the low budget ‘Yaathisai’ is made on, it lacks on fronts like finesse, music, editing, computer graphics and such other technical aspects.
Despite the above discrepancies ‘Yaathisai’ is commendable for the attempt and deserves appreciation for the all new cast and a young new director pulling off such a grand epic affair.
Written and directed by Dharani Rasendran, ‘Yaathisai’ stars Shakthi Mithran, Seyon Rajalakshmi, Samar and Vaidhegi Amarnat in the lead roles alongside Guru Somasundaram, Chandrakumar, Semmalar Annam, Subathra and Vijay Seyon as supporting cast.
‘Yaathisai’ will premiere only on Amazon Prime Video on 12th May, 2023.
