Amidst mediocre films like Ram Pothineni’s ‘Double iSmart‘ and Ravi Teja’s ‘Mr. Bachchan’ came a not so popular starrer film ‘Aay’ just a day later and won many hearts.
With undertones highlighting the prevalent caste division, ‘Aay’ is a lighthearted romantic comedy drama set in the Godavari region of Andhra Pradesh. The film is a slice-of-life story of friendship and romance and has the flavour of the region.
‘Aay’ is like a breath of fresh air in times when violent films are becoming the norm. The director’s approach to address a grave matter with a narrative dictated by humour is refreshing. Though the comedy does feel a bit overstretched at certain points, overall the film makes for a good watch.
The performances by the actors has received appreciation and the music also supports the film’s feel good vibe. ‘Aay’ is directed by Anji K Maniputhra and stars Nithin Narne, Nayan Sarika, Ankith Koya and Rajkumar Kasireddy in prominent roles.
‘Aay’ will premiere on Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam on 12th September, 2024.
