Around ten days back, Om Raut’s massively mounted venture ‘Adipurush’ was the most anticipated Indian movie. After its release, the audience flocked in huge numbers to watch the film in theatres. But negative word of mouth amongst other factors resulted in a significant downward trend at the box-office from Monday. Despite all of that, ‘Adipurush’ has reportedly raked in Rs.410 crores at the box-office globally during its six-day theatrical run.
But in another bad news for ‘Adipurush’, the movie has created an unwanted record as it has now been included in a list titled ‘50 worst Bollywood movies ever made’ on international movies database portal IMDb. As of now, ‘Adipurush’ has been listed on the tenth spot of the aforementioned IMDb list. Currently, the movie holds an IMDb user rating of just 4.6/10 based on around 89k votes.
On the said IMDb top 50 worst Bollywood movies list, in the first place is the critically derided ‘Sholay’ remake ‘Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag’. The next spots are held by some critically panned films namely Kamal Khan’s ‘Desh Drohi’, Sajid Khan’s ‘Humshakals’ and ‘Himmatwala’, Himesh Reshammiya starrer ‘Karzzzz’ and the critically panned film ‘Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani’, to name a few.
Coming back to ‘Adipurush’, the movie features Prabhas (as Adipurush / Lord Ram), Saif Ali Khan (as Lankesh / Ravana), Kriti Sanon (as Janaki / Goddess Sita), Sunny Singh as Lakshmana, and Devdatta Nage as God Hanuman / Bajrang.
For those who have seen the film – do you think ‘Adipurush’ is really such a bad film that it deserves to be included on the ‘50 worst Bollywood movies ever made’ IMDb list? Or its inclusion is mainly because of some controversies and the widespread negative feedback it got on social media platforms considering the Hindu epic ‘Ramayana’ is very close to our hearts and it’s a sensitive subject to execute? Is the inclusion of ‘Adipurush’ on the IMDb list fair or unfair? What are your thoughts on this?
