Adivi Sesh’s ‘Major’ Commences Final Shooting Schedule

The highly anticipated biographical action film, based on the life of 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks martyr Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan, has reportedly commenced the last schedule of its filming. After the pandemic induced multiple delays, it has also been reported that filming will conclude by the end of August month and the makers are reportedly geared up for an exclusive theatrical release.

The film’s teaser that was released in multiple languages back in the month of April, had garnered significant buzz and curiosity amongst prospective viewers. The teaser effectively portrayed snippets of some breathtaking visuals and featured daredevil action sequences that involved the martyred hero of 26/11.

‘Major’ is being touted as the way Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan lived and not about the way he lost his life. The Ashoka Chakra Awardee Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan was an Indian Army officer who served in the elite Special Action Group of the National Security Guards (NSG).

The movie’s titular role is being essayed by Telugu actor Adivi Sesh (in his Hindi film debut) and directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka. The film would ostensibly follow Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan’s courageous contribution during the November 2008 Mumbai attacks. The film also features veteran performers like Revathi, Prakash Raj, and Sobhita Dhulipala, amongst others.

Major’ has been produced by superstar Mahesh Babu in collaboration with Sony Pictures India and A+S Movies. Being considered as a Pan-Indian film for obvious reason, the movie has been concurrently shot in Hindi and Telugu languages and later dubbed in Malayalam. Although the film’s production is on the verge of completion, the theatrical release date of the film might be announced only after there is some visible relief from the pandemic situation in India.
