The MCU is getting bigger and better with each passing show and each exciting piece of news that’s coming up regarding the MCU and Marvel in general. The company has a bunch of shows lined up and is getting ready to release one of the most highly anticipated movies, after Endgame, which is “Black Widow”. The Scarlett Johansson starrer “Black Widow” is set for July 9th release, which now is less than a month away. Fans are super excited as Black Widow will be the first movie to be released in MCU’s Phase 4.
Natasha Romanoff, a much loved character’s standalone movie was long due in MCU as her past has always been a mystery to every MCU fan. The mystery might get solved in the upcoming movie. Not only this, the movie is bringing in many more characters reportedly like Yelena, Red Guardian, Taskmaster and maybe give hints of few more too. These are the known and probable ones, we still don’t know what more “Black Widow” has in store for us.
We all know Black Widow is actually a prequel movie, as the character of Black Widow has already seen her ending in Endgame. The movie is set somewhere between the timelines of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. The story most likely follows Natasha when she decides to give her long lost Russian family a visit. So, one can say that is just a fragment of what Natasha’s past was will be shown, that brings the possibility of having more Black Widow movies, where they explore other fragments of her past.
Given this is a prequel of a much loved character, Kevin Feige, Marvel’s head honcho in a recent interview was asked the question of whether other MCU characters can get a prequel or not. To this, Feige answered that there’s definitely a chance, as they are always interested in learning about the past, present and future of their characters. So, the answer definitely implies that Black Widow might not be the only character with a prequel.
Already a fan favourite with the upcoming movie is Yelena Belova and we are sure fans would want to know more about her. Getting a prequel for her is definitely possible and then there’s Hawkeye. Yes, Hawkeye for sure is getting his own series but that most likely will be how he trains the next hawkeye. If we get a Hawkeye prequel, we might actually come to what really happened in Budapest with Black Widow and Hawkeye. Then with all these is definitely the latest entry of Red Guardian, who too could use a prequel along with The Guardians of the Galaxy characters Rocket and Groot.
There are so many characters with unexplained past that time and again keep popping up as undisclosed references in the movies now. It would definitely be exciting to what their past held and what made them who they are today. So, with Kevin Feige’s answer one definitely can expect that there might be more prequels in order for MCU.
