People often say that cricket is the biggest religion, and if someone disrespects your religion, they are going to get the villain tag in no time. After SonyLIV broke the hearts of football fans, it was only a matter of time before they did the same to cricket fans.
What did SonyLIV do this time?
During sports streaming, the OTT giant is already messing up the streaming experience, leaving users dissatisfied. For starters, the Indian audience is getting used to the freebie model of cricket; even during the biggest events, they get it for free. So paying for something like India vs. Zimbabwe is frustrating some fans.
Despite the subscription, the UI for the cricketing experience is quite disappointing. Even during the match, when users tried to check the scorecard, the video stopped, leaving a bad taste in their mouths.
Additionally, SonyLIV’s advertisements are at the crossfire of the viewers as they are extremely inconsistent. Some fans even claim that because of the advertisements, they missed some crucial moments of the match.
Dear @SonyLIV - why are ads being shown during critical parts of the IND-ZIM 🇮🇳-🇿🇼 match? Right when catches are being taken or shots are being pulled?

Even with a premium subscription, fans were slapped with bad streaming quality. The stream continuously shifted from one quality to another, which is a big turnoff.
@SonyLIV webcast of the #indvszim match is so poor. I don't know why they have got broadcast rights?

Watching #ZIMvsIND is like doing paper trade.

By the way @SonyLIV what kind of platform you have created. Screen goes blank every now and then when live match is playing.#stockmarketsindia #sharemarket
Practically speaking, fans are just pissed off at the platform. Even during the first couple of weeks of the Euros, it was quite pathetic. Though the platform slowly revamped the footballing experience, the cricket side of the events is now quite a mess.
