When you make a mockery, you need to go all out, and “The Boys” have been doing that for a long time. They have realized that the only way you can’t go beyond the boundaries is if you never set one. And it seems like no one is safe from “The Boys.”
This time, they take a dig at their own studio.
During the fifth episode of the series, they mock the MCU and DC for planning their content years in advance. Their Phase system is also butchered by “The Boys,” but now Prime Video is in their crosshairs.
If you watched the fifth episode, there was a reference to custom virtual product placement as Deep goes on to make some racist remarks. In reality, with AI and advanced logistics, it is achievable. Ironically, Prime Video approached “The Boys” to try this tech.
So, on a typical day, what would “The Boys” do?
Indeed, they made fun of it in their own show. The generous offer was declined by the writers, and they made it a practical joke. People got one more reason to love the show even more.
Now, this is nothing absolutely brand new as in terms of theatrical releases, movies do this all the time. Based on cultural appropriation, they tweak some things to make the film more relevant. But if OTT does it, it will do it in real time and will be an exciting phenomenon.
Though with something like this, the worldwide audience won’t have a uniform experience, but also, as OTT is always the first one to take any hit, they can get away with edgy content easily.
