In a recent interview, filmmaker Srijit Mukherjee has said that he is working on a film that will tell the legendary story of the battle of Plassey. When asked about his desire of working with the actor Dev, Srijit expressed his wish of casting the actor as Nawab Siraj-ud-doula in the film.
Srijit Mukherjee and Dev a.k.a Deepak Adhikary both are bringing their versions of the same Byomkesh story ‘Durgo Rohoshyo’, one on OTT and one at the theaters. There is a creative clash between them as well regarding the story. But the director has expressed his genial desires to work with Dev in the epic historical drama.
Srijit Mukherjee has said he is about to talk to Dev for two projects and both of them are in a quite mature stage of writing. After playing Bagha Jatin under Dev’s own production, it will be nice for the actor to play another famous historical figure. It is not disclosed who the director will have for the other roles.
Currently Srijit Mukherjee is busy with ‘Durgo Rohosyo’, the Mrinal Sen biopic and a cop multiverse story. Srijit Mukherjee is one of the most trusted directors of the industry and if he does a film on the epic story of the Plassey battle, it is surely going to be something huge. Fans are excited with the news and have asked Dev about the role of Siraj too. Dev has not talked about it clearly as for now. There are three to four projects that Srijit is working on and when he gets done with everything, he will start the film on Siraj-ud-Doula which will definitely have a huge budget and starcast.
