Set during the famous Harlem Renaissance period in 1924, “Bitter Root” follows the journey of a broken family that were once known to be great monster hunters. It is during this time, they face an unbelievable force of evil descend upon their beloved New York City.

For generations, the Sangeryes have been known to hunt the evil and cure the ones infected by supernatural forces have hunted and cured those infected by a supernatural force that feeds off the disadvantaged in the era, transforming the humans into monsters. With most of the family dead, it is upto the surviving Sangeryes to make a choice. A choice between saving them or killing the evil in order to save the world from an invasion.

The movie with this premise seems like it will be filled with supernatural elements, which it surely will but given that it is set in the Harlem Renaissance period, it will definitely bring up important references from the African-American community that set off this era.
