After Theatre, How Is OTT Capitalising On Nostalgia

There is no denying that the media and entertainment industry capitalize on basically anything and everything. From court cases to sports to fairytales, and now, finally, through nostalgia.

With the widespread and exponential rise of OTT platforms, they have become an everyday tool used by people of all age demographics. Building off of that, a brand new duo of OTT platforms that both honor & preserve the rich and varied legacy of Hindi cinema and music have been released!

Ultra Play, India’s first ever OTT app dedicated solely to streaming Hindi film classics, and Ultra Gaane, the country’s first exclusive video songs OTT platform, are available at Rs 199/year & Rs 99/3 months, respectively. The initiative by the Ultra Media & Entertainment Group is en route to introducing yet another generation of viewers to the world of OTT.

The nostalgia associated with the timeless tales and music of Bollywood since the 1950s, will be the sole driving force behind these OTT platforms. While one platform boasts films by legendary icons such as Guru Dutt, Raj Kapoor, Shakti Samanta, Subhash Ghai, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the other blends visuals with classic tracks.

Not only has this move broadened the viewer base for these OTT platforms, it has also provided younger generations with the option to stream these classics with ease!
