Veteran actress and Agatha: Coven of Chaos star Debra Jo Rupp recently had an interview with Berkshire Magazine, revealing some intriguing details about the upcoming WandaVision spin-off. The actress played Mrs Hart in WandaVision.
Rupp declared the upcoming Agatha Harkess outing as the second season of WandaVision. “It’s the second season of Wandavision for Marvel. It’s very much like American Horror Story, where each season is a whole new kind of a thing,” she revealed. “I was shocked when they called me because I really thought that would be it, and I was fine with that. But when they called, I got so excited because it’s a character I never get to play. She’s gonna be great fun.”
Rupp’s disclosure about the forthcoming Kathryn Hahn starrer raises several questions. And the most important among them is this: Will Elizabeth Olsen return as Wanda Maximmoff in the show?
Olsen talked about the odds of her appearance in Agatha: Coven of Chaos in an interview with Deadline some time ago. When asked about her potential appearance in Coven, the actress simply replied, “I don’t… think I’ll come back.”
This scenario looks a bit confusing, isn’t it? We cannot just hail Coven as WandaVision Season 2 if there will be no Wanda in the show. Marvel Studios have not yet confirmed her inclusion in the upcoming MCU show.
Olsen may make a shocking appearance in Coven of Chaos, given her fate was left open after the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. And how much screen presence will she get if she appears in the show? Her character could steal the spotlight from Hahn, considering the global prominence of Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch. In addition, Wanda’s powers have grown substantially, thanks to the Darkhold. She single-handedly tackled Doctor Strange and the entire army of Kamar-Taj in MoM. This is why the makers of Coven must be careful about how much screen time they should give to Wanda if she becomes a part of the show.
Agatha: Coven of Chaos will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar in 2024. Stay tuned for more updates.
