“AGENT,” a 2023 Telugu action spy film directed by Surender Reddy and written by Vakkantham Vamsi, starring Akhil Akkineni, Mammootty, Dino Morea, Sakshi Vaidya, and Vikramjeet Virk.
The movie needs no introduction for all the bad reasons. It is easily one of the worst films of the years and due to the same reason, it is getting delayed on OTT as well. Yes, normally Telugu movies take 4 weeks to arrive on digital platforms, if not, 8 weeks at most. The latter is reserved mostly for Bollywood movies.
Despite the initial excitement, “AGENT” disappointed both critics and audiences. Released on April 28, 2023, it received negative reviews, primarily due to issues with the screenplay, direction, logic, and performances. The film’s box office performance mirrored its critical reception, failing to recoup its budget.
Even after all these delays and troubles, streaming giant SonyLIV announced that they are gonna release the movie on their platform on the 29th of September.
But will it?
Well, it looks doubtful now. According to some industry insider sources, there is a legal tussle going on between the producers and distributors of the film in the Andhra region. Due to the same reason, you may not be able to watch AGENT on SonyLIV tomorrow. Not that we want to watch it but it is what it is.
