Telugu Superstar Allu Arjun‘s maiden Pan-India film, Pushpa is a hot cake for the OTT platforms. The movie directed by Creative Director Sukumar is announced for August 13th Release as Independence Day Special. Several OTT Platforms are looking to bag the digital rights of the film.
Regional Telugu Exclusive OTT Platform, Aha Video is keen on bagging the film’s digital rights. Allu Arjun’s father, Allu Aravind is one of the key promoters of the OTT platform. But then, Aha Video is a Telugu Exclusive platform which means the other language versions will be of no use.
If the movie’s Telugu digital rights were retained by Aha Video, the digital rights of the other languages will not be tenable for other OTT platforms. The OTT majors are keen on bagging the digital rights of all the languages and would not partake with the Telugu version. As things stand today, Allu Arjun does not have a market in other states except for Kerala. So it makes no sense in leaving out the Telugu version to Aha Video and bag remaining language rights. So, the makers are in a fix now. They may have to see the digital rights of all languages as a bundle.
If Aha video is keen on bagging the film, it can buy all the rights and sell the non-Telugu rights to other platforms retaining the Telugu version. Aha Video can also release the Telugu version first and later sell all rights including Telugu to other OTT platforms after a week or two.
