Aha Video, the Telugu language streaming platform, has today announced a new original direct-to-digital film titled ‘Balu Gani Talkies’. Helmed by Vishwanath Prathap, ‘Balu Gani Talkies’ will premiere soon only on Aha Video.
The details on the plot line for ‘Balu Ganj Talkies’ have been kept under wraps but by the looks of the first poster launched today, the film seems to be a period drama set in the 90s probably when single screen theatres were prominent.
Possibly set inside a projector room or something, the poster has a vintage feel to it and features a movie ticket priced at ₹20 and the background is that of a closed box and some movie reels. There’s also Jai Balayya mentioned in the poster suggesting the main lead to be an ardent fan of veteran star Nandamuri Balakrishna.
Written and directed by Vishwanath Prathap, ‘Balu Gani Talkies’ stars Shivkumar Ramachandravarapu, Raghu Kunche and Saranya Sharma in lead roles. Describing her character on social media Saranya said that she got the opportunity to explore the portrayal of a raw and adamant version of a woman including a slang that challenged her as an actor.
‘Balu Gani Talkies’ is produced by Sreenidhi Sagar and co-produced by P. Rupak Pranav Tej. Balu Sandilyasa is the director of photography for the film with editing by Anwar Ali and music by Smaran. A Rise East Entertainment production, ‘Bali Gani Talkies’ will premiere exclusively on Aha Video very soon.
