Tamil Anthology, Putham Pudhu Kaalai which released on Amazon Prime Video earlier this week is getting rave reviews. The anthology has five short movies directed by noted directors. Ilamai Idho Idho directed by Sudha Kongara is hogging the limelight.
The interesting part is the subject chosen by Director Sudha Kongara. The choice of the subject itself is surprising because it is in complete contrast to the films she directed so far. She went against her signature and her movie comes as the first of the five films in the Anthology. Usually, the filmmakers ensure that the best of the lot is placed first in any Anthology. It is impressive that Sudha Kongara managed to get the first slot even as she came out of the comfort zone.
Ilamai Idho Idho speaks about the idea of falling love at a ripe age but it presents the scenario through the eyes of two youngsters – played by Kalidas Jayaram and Kalyani Priyadarshan. Jayaram and Urvashi play the elderly couple.
Gautham Vasudev Menon, Suhasini Maniratnam, Rajiv Menon, and Karthik Subbaraj handled the remaining shorts. All the shorts were canned during the Lockdown and the stories have a reference to the Lockdown.
