Ahsoka Season 2: Hayden Christensen Returns, Rory McCann Joins

Dave Filoni led the Ahsoka panel at the Star Wars Celebration event in Tokyo on Saturday. There, the showrunner announced Ahsoka Season 2. This confirms the return of Rosario Dawson as the iconic female protagonist, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, and Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger.

Soon, out of nowhere, Hayden Christensen appeared at the panel, receiving a thunderous round of applause from the audience. Christensen himself confirmed that he will return in Ahsoka Season 2 as Anakin Skywalker.

Another big update related to the upcoming season is the replacement of Ray Stevenson, who tragically passed away in 2023. The late Irish actor played Baylan Skoll—master of Shin Hati and a former Jedi who survived the events of Order 66—in Season 1. Replacing him is popular Game of Thrones actor Rory McCann, known for playing Sandor “The Hound” Clegane.

According to Filoni, they carefully considered how to move forward with Baylan’s character respectfully after Ray Stevenson’s passing. Ultimately, with the Stevenson family’s blessing, they chose to recast the role.

McCann is the new actor, and both Filoni and the cast speak highly of his enthusiasm for taking on the part. This decision seems fitting, especially given Baylan’s intriguing background as a former Jedi who hadn’t fully succumbed to the dark side.

McCann’s character will serve as a major adversary for Ahsoka Tano in Ahsoka Season 2. Having survived Order 66 by embracing the dark side, he has formed alliances with the Nightsister Morgan Elsbeth, played by Diana Lee Inosanto, and Grand Admiral Thrawn, portrayed by Lars Mikkelsen.

Ahsoka Season 2 is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2026. Meanwhile, Indian fans can catch up on the first season on JioHotstar if they haven’t already. Stay tuned for more updates.
