On Tuesday, Marvel unveiled the brand-new teaser for First Steps along with its first-look posters. However, the latter came under massive fire after many fans pointed out apparent mistakes, claiming they were AI-generated.
The following post highlights several copy-paste faces and a man holding a Fantastic Four flag with only four fingers. Additionally, some posters have been criticised for their lack of visual appeal.
Marvel has responded to the controversy and denied allegations that the new posters were AI-generated.
The use of AI has become a highly controversial topic, particularly in Hollywood. Opinions are split—some see it as the future of film, while others fear it will displace human creatives and limit originality.
But it seems like major Hollywood studios do not give a damn about this situation at all, as AI offers a time-saving and cost-effective alternative. This isn’t the first time Marvel has faced backlash for using AI in its projects. Remember the opening credits of Secret Invasion?
So, what should we call this? A horrible Photoshop job? Negligence at its highest level? Even the first-look poster for Thunderbolts* faced criticism for using AI.
This debate also coincides with the controversy surrounding Brady Corbet’s Oscar-nominated film The Brutalist, starring Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones. According to some rumours, the makers used AI to refine the film’s dialogue.
