The sincere performer has just received his third ‘Best Actor’ National Film Award for his performance in Om Raut’s ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’ at the 68th National Awards ceremony (first two were for Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Zakhm’ and Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘The Legend of Bhagat Singh’).
Moreover, earlier this year, Ajay Devgn had garnered immense appreciation for his directorial skills in the airplane investigative thriller ‘Runway 34’. And before that, for starring in Disney+ Hotstar’s ‘Rudra: The Edge of Darkness’, S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’.
And just now, Ajay Devgn took to Twitter to announce the release date for his eagerly anticipated movie ‘Maidaan’. The biographical sports drama movie will be released in theatres on 17th February 2023.
‘Maidaan’ features Ajay Devgn in the role of the legendary Indian national football team coach and manager Syed Abdul Rahim, who is also regarded as the architect of modern Indian football. His period as the Indian Football coach is considered by many as the golden age of football in India. The biopic film will showcase the true story of the relatively unknown hero who brought laurels and glory to India – Syed Abdul Rahim.
‘Maidaan’ has been directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma. He is a prolific ad-film director who made his feature film directorial debut with the Arjun Kapoor starrer action film ‘Tevar’. Later, he directed the immensely popular comedy drama movie ‘Badhaai Ho’ starring Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role.
Besides Ajay Devgn, ‘Maidaan’ also features Priyamani as Syed Abdul Rahim’s wife, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh, amongst other cast members. Other than ‘Maidaan’, Ajay Devgn’s forthcoming acting projects include ‘Thank God’ co-starring Sidharth Malhotra, mystery thriller ‘Drishyam 2’, and ‘Bholaa’, which is also being directed by him.
