There will soon be a biopic on political activist and Indian cricketer Palwankar Baloo. The movie will be backed by the likes of Ajay Devgn and Tigmanshu Dhulia. Devgn, Tigmanshu Dhulia, and Priti Sinha will be jointly producing the biopic, and director or actors have not been attached yet. In an X post, Priti Sinha announced the movie.
Palwankar Baloo was born in a Poverty stricken family and had to leave school early to support his family. He went on to join the Parsee and the British Cricket club for cleaning jobs, where his talents as a bowler were seen by other esteemed cricketers. Baloo established himself as a prodigee but was not accepted by all as he was a so-called ‘lowborn’ and had to suffer much discrimination from upper caste Brahmins. Baloo’s story is one of eternal struggle and Inspiration.
Popular academic and historian Ramachandra Guha wrote a book ‘A Corner Of A Foreign Field’ on the life and struggles of Palwankar Baloo. The movie will be closely following this well-researched book. Ajay Devgn has recently portrayed the role of Bengali football coach Syed Abdul Rahim in the movie ‘Maidaan’. It will be good to see him as Palwankar Baloo as well. It is not sure who will portray the role but there are high chances that Ajay might do it himself. The title of the film has not been revealed.
