Ajay Devgn’s ‘Bholaa’ OTT Release Is Here, But With A Rider!

Ajay Devgn’s much-talked-about action drama ‘Bholaa’ hit theatres in India on 30th March, 2023. Now, just one and a half months after its theatrical release, Bholaa has found its way to a streaming platform. Yes, Hindi film Bholaa is now streaming on Prime Video India, albeit with a rider – the film is available to stream only on rent on the Prime Video India Rental Store, and not on regular subscription. Viewers can pay a one-time rent of ₹399 and watch Bholaa on Prime Video.

Interestingly, Prime Video India regular subscribers have an advantage over non-Prime Video members. The platform has launched a cash-back scheme, wherein Prime members will get a cash-back of ₹150 on the ₹399 rent of Bholaa. The cash-back will be credited to their Amazon Pay accounts.

Regular readers of Binged must be aware of the fact that the powers at be in the Hindi film industry have mandated a compulsory two-month exclusive theatrical window, before a Hindi film can stream on OTT. Bholaa streaming on Prime Video India so soon is only because it has been made available on rent and not on subscription-based video-on-demand (SVOD). Going by this rule, we can expect Bholaa to begin streaming for all subscribers rent-free on Prime Video by 28th May.

However, as of now, those who are extremely keen on watching Bholaa before its SVOD streaming date can catch the Ajay Devgn directed film on rent on Prime Video India.

For those who don’t know, Bholaa is the official remake of Tamil blockbuster, ‘Kaithi’. The story of Bholaa centres on a prisoner, Bholaa (Ajay Devgn), released from jail after 10 years, who leaves for home to meet his young daughter. But midway, he gets caught up in a face-off between the cops and dangerous drug lords, and must endure a journey full of dangers and death in order to survive.

Tamil actor Karthi had played the character in the Tamil original, ‘Kaithi’, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Bholaa is produced and directed by Ajay Devgn. T-Series, S. R. Prabhu’s DreamWorks Pictures, and Reliance Entertainment are joint producers. Kumar Mangat Pathak’s Panorama Studios are co-presenters of the film. Lokesh Kanagaraj, director of the original Kaithi, is credited with the story for ‘Bholaa’.

Bholaa stars Ajay Devgn and Tabu, along with Sanjay Mishra, Makarand Deshpande and Deepak Dobriyal in pivotal roles. Amala Paul and Abhishek Bachchan play cameos in Bholaa. Ravi Basrur, music composer of the KGF film series, has composed the music of ‘Bholaa’.

Bholaa is currently streaming on Prime Video India on rent. Have a look at the trailer of the film –
