Boney Kapoor has just announced what Ajith fans have been waiting for breathlessly. The producer-filmmaker took to his Twitter handle to announce the release date of Ajith’s much-awaited film – Pongal 2022 is finally the ‘Valimai’ release date in theatres!
The announcement of the release date for Valimai comes even as fans and audiences have been getting increasingly restless and impatient, flooding social media with demands for an update – any update – on the much awaited film. Save for a lyrical video of its energetic song, “Naanga Vera Maari”, there’s been no updates on Valimai from the team of the film. Fans have waited keenly for a release date, teaser, trailer or even a glimpse of Ajith from the film.
Word on the ground is that a short glimpse of Ajith from Valimai is also slated to be released in the coming few days from Boney Kapoor’s Bayview Projects LLP, the producers of the film. The exact release date of Valimai has not been announced just yet. We only know that it will be a Pongal 2022 release date. Several big films have already announced Pongal, aka Sankranthi, as their release dates. Vijay’s Beast, Mahesh Babu’s Sarkaru Vaari Paata, Prabhas’ RadheShyam and Pawan Kalyan’s Bheemla Nayak are prominent among those. It will be a crowded box office this Pongal and Sankranthi 2022.
Valimai has been directed by H Vinoth, and stars Thala Ajith in the lead role of a CBI officer, Eshwar Murthy IPS. Actor Kartikeya Gummakonda is playing the antagonist against Ajith Kumar’s character. Valimai is a high-octane spy thriller, and is apparently set in the backdrop of the car-racing world. The film also stars Huma Qureshi, Pearle Maaney, Yogi Babu, veteran actress Sumithra, among others.
Valimai is Ajith Kumar’s second collaboration with Boney Kapoor, after the 2019 film, “Nerkonda Paarvai”, a remake of the Hindi film “Pink”. Prolific cinematographer Nirav Shah is the Director of Photography of Valimai.
