Al Pacino’s JFK Film Assassination To Be Helmed By This Oscar Winner

Earlier this year in May, it was revealed that a film based on the assassination of John F. Kennedy was in the works with a script by Pulitzer Prize winner David Mamet. And that the film titled ‘Assassination’ would feature a splendid cast including Al Pacino, John Travolta, Viggo Mortensen, Shia LaBeouf, and Courteny Love, amongst others. Previously, David Mamet himself was supposed to direct the film but apparently things didn’t work out.

And now, as per the latest update on the JFK assassination film, Academy Award winning filmmaker Barry Levinson, whose illustrious directorial filmography consists of films like ‘Rain Man’, ‘Sleepers’, and ‘Bugsy’, has been roped in to direct the Al Pacino starrer film ‘Assassination’.

The interesting thing about ‘Assassination’ is that the story has been written from the point of view of the mafia. The plot ostensibly revolves around how the Chicago mobster Sam Giancana was behind the assassination of former US President John F. Kennedy and that the shooting was planned by the infamous gangster. It was said to be revenge of sorts for trying to dismantle organized crime even after JFK was allegedly put in the White House by the mob.

Barry Levinson’s last directorial feature film was the Auschwitz camp survival drama ‘The Survivor’. His next film is a gangster drama called ‘Wise Guys’ which features Al Pacino’s ‘Godfather’ co-star Robert De Niro in a double role. It’s set for a theatrical release in February 2024. And Oscar winner Al Pacino will next be seen in the neo-noir thriller ‘Knox Goes Away’ directed by Michael Keaton. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on Barry Levinson’s ‘Assassination’.
