Earlier today, acclaimed Bollywood star Alia Bhatt shared on her Instagram account a monochrome set picture of the first day of her upcoming film ‘Darlings’. The film would be Alia Bhatt’s maiden production venture that is being co-produced by none other than the Bollywood heartthrob and superstar Shahrukh Khan.
Alongside the picture, the ‘Gully Boy’ actress articulated a profound and honest note for her fans. She confessed about her nervousness as an actor on the first day of her first film. She went on to state that she still gets edgy before a new film starts and how she reaches the set before the scheduled time. She rightly remarked that, in a way, being nervous and uncertain is a sign of caring for the project.
‘Darlings’ is being produced by Shahrukh Khan’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment along with Alia Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions. A few months back, the makers had shared an announcement video for the film that started off with a statutory warning marked with the words “Auraton Ka Apmaan Aapki Sehat Ke Liye Bahut Haanikaarak Ho Sakta Hai” (offending women can be very dangerous for your health).
‘Darlings’ is apparently a dark comedy film that revolves around a mother-daughter duo (played by Shefali Shah and Alia Bhatt) that is set against the backdrop of a conservative and lower-middle-class Mumbai neighborhood.
The film also features Vijay Varma (Pink, Ok Computer, Mirzapur) and Roshan Matthew, who was recently seen in Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Choked’. The film marks the feature film directorial debut of Jasmeet K Reen, who had earlier helmed a short segment in the 2007 film ‘Dus Kahaniyaan’.
Alia Bhatt’s upcoming acting ventures include big-ticket films like Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, S.S. Rajamouli’s epic project ‘RRR’, and Ayan Mukherjee’s ambitious superhero film ‘Brahmastra’ co-starring Amitabh Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor.
