Alia Bhatt’s debut film as a producer ‘Darlings’ is coming to Netflix and teaser for the same is out now. A dark comedy, ‘Darlings’ also makes the debut full-length feature film for director Jasmeet K Reen and will premiere exclusively on Netflix on 5th August, 2022.
‘Darlings’ teaser begins with Alia Bhatt narrating the story of a scorpion and a frog, where the latter was resting by a river when the former, troubled by the flood, came to him pleading for a ride across the river. The frog then asked him what if he stings him, to which the scorpion replied that if he does that they would both sink and thus he wouldn’t do it.
But when they reach the middle of the river scorpion stung the frog. Feeling betrayed frog asks why did he do so and the scorpion says it’s in his nature to sting. Relating this tale to the story of ‘Darlings’, we see Alia Bhatt and Vijay Verma’s characters getting close and having those pleasing and teasing moments of new love.
But then enters into scene another character played by Roshan Matthew of whom Verma seems to be suspicious and jealous of. But the story here is more than what appears to be. Alia and his mother, played by Shefali Shah, are involved in something more sinister although they don’t seem so on the surface.
‘Darlings’ teaser looks gripping and keeps you making guesses throughout. There’s a bit of sassyness, suspense and thrill topped with some pretty dark comedy. The talented set of cast all justify their characters quite well. It will be interesting to see what these Darlings have in store for the audience.
