September is surely shaping up to be a star-studded, blockbuster month! With theatres reopening in almost all states, there is a sudden rush with filmmakers booking dates for their releases. The brave decision of a theatrical release by the makers of Akshay Kumar‘s ‘Bell Bottom‘ has inspired and motivated many more to follow suit. Apart from blockbuster movies, we also have some much-awaited Indian and international web shows releasing on the 3rd of this month. We know you can’t stand the excitement so we’ve got you all covered! Here’s putting together a list of all that’s releasing digitally and in theaters on the 3rd of September –
1. Cinderella (Amazon Prime Video)
This upcoming romantic musical of the classic fairytale, is directed by Kay Cannon and marks the film debut of singer Camila Cabello. The film also stars Idina Menzel, Minnie Driver, Nicholas Galitzine, Billy Porter and Pierce Brosnan in supporting roles.
2. Money Heist Part 5 (Netflix)
The much-loved Spanish series is back with its 5th part and fans can’t wait! Created by Alex Pina, the show stars Álvaro Morte as the Professor, with Úrsula Corberó, Itziar Ituño, Pedro Alonso, Alba Flores, Miguel Herrán and Jaime Lorente in titular roles.
3. Helmet (Zee5)
Directed by Satram Ramani, this quirky comedy about a condom stash stars Aparshakti Khurana and Pranutan Bahl in the lead, with Abhishek Banerjee and
Rohan Shankar. This film will see Aparshakti playing the lead for the first time after doing many supporting roles.
4. F9 (In Theatres)
Directed by Justin Lin, this is the 9th instalment and the tenth full-length film released overall in the Fast & Furious franchise. It stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, John Cena, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron in lead roles.
5. Dear Megha (In Theatres)
This Telugu romantic drama starring Megha Akash, Adith Arun and Arjun Somayajula in the lead, is helmed by debutant director Sushanth Reddy. Shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu, this coming-of-age film is slated for a theatrical release.
6. Black Widow (Disney+Hotstar)
This American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics, is the 24th MCU film and primarily features the character of the Black Widow. The film directed by Cate Shortland, stars Scarlett Johansson in the lead, alongside Florence Pugh, David Harbour, O-T Fagbenle, Olga Kurylenko, William Hurt, Ray Winstone and Rachel Weisz.
7. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (In Theatres)
This American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics, is the 25th MCU film and primarily features the character of Shang-Chi. The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and stars Simu Liu in the lead, alongside Awkwafina, Meng’er Zhang, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu, Benedict Wong, Michelle Yeoh and Tony Leung.
8. Candyman (In Theatres)
Directed by Nia DaCosta, this film is a sequel to the 1992 film by the same name and the 4th film in the ‘Candyman’ film series, based on the short story ‘The Forbidden’ by Clive Barker. The film stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, and Colman Domingo. Vanessa Williams, Tony Todd and Virginia Madsen reprise their roles from the original film.
9. Alpha Adimai (SonyLiv)
This Tamil crime-thriller is a trilogy, who’s first part releases on the streaming platform on 3rd September. An insight into the dark world of the illegal drug trade, this film directed by Jenovi, stars newcomers Eeshwar, Kalki, Arun and Vinod Varma in prominent roles.
10. Nootokka Jillala Andagadu (In Theatres)
This upcoming Telugu movie starring Srinivas Avasarala and Ruhani Sharma in prominent roles, is a romantic comedy drama directed by Rachakonda Vidya Sagar and slated for a theatrical release.
11. Ulagam Sutrum Valiban (In Theatres)
The 1973 MGR classic’s digitally remastered HD version will hit theatres on 3rd September. This sci-fi Tamil movie also starring Manjula, Latha and Chandrakala, was helmed and produced by the actor himself. In those days, this film was shot across Japan, Singapore and Malaysia, amongst other countries.
12. Appudu Ippudu (In Theatres)
Directed by Chalapathi Puvvula, this Telugu romantic drama features Srujan and Tanishq Rajan in the lead. The feel-good entertainer was to release last week, but got postponed to September 3rd.
13. Kalira Atita (MX Player, Mubi)
This movie directed by Nila Madhab is an Oriya film, inspired by prophecies of Achyutananda Das, a 16-century Saint from Odisha. This much-acclaimed rural drama stars Pitobash Tripathy in the lead.
14. Devdas Brothers (In Theatres)
This coming-of-age, Tamil rom-com directed by Janakiraman, features Dhruvva and Sanchita Shetty in the lead, alongwith Bala Saravanan, Deepthi Manne and Ajay Prasath in supporting roles.
15. The Killer (In Theatres)
This Telugu suspense-thriller directed by Chinna, starring Karthik Sai, Daly Shah and Neha Deshpandey in the lead, will also be joining the string of theatrical releases for 3rd September.
16. Asmee (In Theatres)
Directed by Shesh Karthikeya, this Telugu suspense-thriller starring Rushika Raj, Raja Narendra, Keshav Deepakam and Indu Kusuma, amongst others will also see a theatrical release on 3rd September.
