Bun Maska is an even more crucial piece of the culture of Mumbai’s beloved Parsi community, that quirky, slightly batty, but wholly adorable bunch of people native to the city. Now, a new Indian Original movie on Netflix aims to capture the essence of the Parsis on film. The film, simply called ‘Maska’, is a bid on the part of the filmmakers to “explore the endearing Parsi heritage of Mumbai, its delicious cuisine, and its even lovelier people.”
Maska tells the story of a starry-eyed youngster who dreams of becoming a movie star. A chance summer fling with a sensible girl makes him understand that some dreams are nothing but delusions, while some are worth fighting for.
Maska features Manisha Koirala, young singing sensation Shirley ‘Pyjama Popstar’ Setia, Nikita Dutta and Prit Kamani. The film is marked for a March 2020 release. Netflix dropped a one-minute teaser of the film in the form of an upbeat number called, “The Maska Song”, pictured on the protagonists, Persis (Shirley Setia) and Rumi (Prit Kamani).
Neeraj Udhwani, writer of Meri Dad ki Maruti, will helm directorial duties in Maska.
