Veteran producer and filmmaker Allu Aravind, who has stayed abreast with the latest trends in the entertainment industry for several decades now, wasn’t far behind to realise that OTT platforms are indeed a gateway for the future.
His soon-to-be-launched OTT platform is proof of the faith he has in the medium.
In a recent event dedicated to the OTT space, he was quite candid in elaborating more on what prompted his digital foray.
Speaking to distinguished media, including Binged.com, he had said:
“This is a new medium, where there are a lot of ambiguities. Even the biggest of giants are still trying to understand and learn more about it. Despite my 30- years of experience in films, I am also only making my baby steps in the medium. Frankly, I was initially scared if it would eat into my film business too.”
Aravind was quick to say that his fears of ‘will cinema survive’ subsided soon:
“It’s a crisis we faced in the 1980s and 90s too, with the evolution of the VCR, cable television as well. Television, films and OTT can very much co-exist,”
He called himself a binge-watcher too, and said that he was a big fan of Game of Thrones.
“The AI-based recommendation engine is working wonders in understanding the audience’s tastes. Telugu people have been so receptive to all kinds of content and niche Telugu OTT space can exist too. Could you imagine that an OTT platform exists in the UK where the entire content is about horses? The huge reception from youngsters is truly motivating.”
