The nation has most recently been grooving to the catchy tunes of the songs from Amar Kaushik’s highly anticipated sequel to his 2018 horror-comedy title ‘Stree’, ‘Stree 2: Sarkate ka Aatank’. And for good reason. The film including for of its components: acting, cinematography, discography, has won the hearts of millions of viewers across the country.
So much so that the Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana starrer has now officially gone on to become the 3rd best-selling film on BookMyShow. Not just that, ‘Stree 2’, has also surpassed the lifetime BMS ticket sales of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s action thriller ‘Animal’, which starred Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, Tripti Dimri and more.
This is undoubtedly due to the fact that ‘Animal’ had debuted to largely divided audience reactions. Viewers either liked it or strongly disliked the message that the film seemed to be propagating. ‘Stree 2’, on the other hand, premiered to widespread critical and fan acclaim.
The record high for the maximum total ticket sales for a film through BookMyShow is unsurprisingly, held by the mega-star studded ‘Kalki 2898 A.D’. Ever wonder what happens when you Google ‘highest BMS sales statistics’? Titles like ‘Baahubali’, ‘Jawaan’, ‘Pathaan’, ‘Aadujeevitham’, K.G.F’, and more pop up here and there.
Having a rare female-led film amongst this list definitely seems like a breath of fresh air!
