Alt Balaji And ZEE5’s The Married Woman: Stark Look At Society’s Homophobia

Anyone who tries to go off the beaten path is called either strange or unfit to live in society and ‘A Married Woman’ takes us on the journey of two women who tried their best to be at peace with themselves even though the world was not so eager to accept it.

Alt Balaji‘s The Married Woman is based on the novel by Manju Kapur which is titled ‘A Married Woman.’ Manju Kapur started at the age of 40 when in her own words ‘Ambition raised a shy head’. At the age of 40 when most people are already thinking about their retirement taking the plunge to start this new career is nothing short of inspirational.

Ridhi Dogra and Monica Dogra will be playing the lead roles in the digital adaptation of this novel which speaks about a unique love interest that brews between these strong females. It is an unconventional love story that looks to rising beyond the narrow frames of society. It looks to hold its head up high amongst a time when people tried to bring it down.

The Married Woman was announced close to a year ago but fans are even more excited as the platform has finally announced a streaming date. Somehow this story of love seems to be relevant even today and what makes it even more interesting is that it is shot in the background of the 1992 riots that shocked the entire nation. The Married Woman is directed by Sahir Raza.

The Married Woman will be streaming on Alt Balaji and Zee 5 on 8th March.
