Mentalhood, Alt Balaji’s long-in-the-making web series that was supposed to be Karisma Kapoor’s web debut, has finally been granted a teaser on the social media handles of the streaming giant. The teaser is in the form of a carousel ad, and features all the six yummy mummies that make up the primary plot and subplots of Mentalhood.
We had earlier reported to our discerning readers the curious case of Alt Balaji’s missing web series, Mentalhood. The show, which had been launched with much fanfare back in May 2019, and wrapped up shoot in June 2019, had curiously been missing from the flurry of Originals releases to hit Alt Balaji since then. Not only that, there was not even a squeak out of Alt Balaji about the show or its release date – no marketing, no buzz, nothing… zilch.
A little digging around revealed the real reason behind the disappearance of Mentalhood. Apparently, Ekta Kapoor was not too happy with the final product that was Mentalhood, and ordered major portions to be re-shot. Hence the delay.
Well, all that is in the past now. The platform has just released the teaser, that lays bare the quirks and eccentricities of each of the moms on the show. The overpampering mom, the helicopter mom, the Boho mom the small-town mom, the workaholic mom and the hands-on stay-at-home dad together cover the entire gamut of parenting types that abound in today’s time.
Kareena Kapoor, Shruti Seth, Shilpa Shukla, Sandhya Mridul and Tillotama Shome are the mummies, while Dino Morea is the mummy-like stay-at-home dad – together the six whip up a storm in the name of motherhood! Sanjay Suri is also a part of the cast.
Now that the teaser is out, a release date too should be out soon. The show is produced in association with ZEE5.
