Apple Plus is the new streaming platform in the market that will become operative from November 1st. The first set of content (series, and films) is also revealed. However, there is a small twist when it comes to movies.
Netflix, which churns out content faster than any other platform, releases movies directly for streaming. There are only a few exceptions like the Roma that was nominated for Oscars or The Irishman that has a high probability for Oscars. Basically, the movies which Netflix feels might be a good contender for awards get a theatrical release.
Apple Plus is going to take the theatrical-first approach with all of its movie content. They will be available for streaming within a few weeks of theatrical release, though.
It is said that Apple Plus doesn’t want to be another digital platform like Netflix that alienates the theatres completely. Amazon is also of the same view when it comes to movies.
The other highly anticipated launch, Disney Plus, will go the Netflix way with movies directly available for streaming. But it differs in the series department where it will be a weekly once deal. All its episodes won’t be available at once.
