Amazon Brings “The Wives”: A Tale Of Polygamy Fused With Mystery!

Book adaptations are the most in thing at the moment. Streaming services are turning various books into movies, series, animations and even documentaries. While some adapt them from mystery thrillers, some adapt them from biographies, while others from love stories and some from the comic books too. This time it is Amazon Prime Video that will be taking the lead in turning a super hit book into a series. New York Times Best-seller novel, “The Wives” by author Tarryn Fisher is in development at Amazon for an upcoming series.

The adaptation has been at work, as producer-writer Kayla Alpert has put forward the idea and story for the upcoming series. She will be teaming up with producer Patrick Morgan, who already has an ongoing deal with Amazon Prime Video. The veteran producer has been known to be part of various productions and also has worked with channels like CBS, ABC Studios among others.

The series is written and executive produced by Kayla Alpert. The novel as well as the series will be telling the story of a woman, who will be known to the viewers as “Thursday”. Thursday is a part of a polygamous relationship; her husband is known to have 2 other wives. Even though, when one wouldn’t be able to look at their husband if they knew he was with someone else, Thursday here is completely in love with him irrespective of his relations. She is known as Thursday because, her husband has dedicated certain days for all of his wives. While he spends time with his other two wives on the other days, Thursday is reserved for her.

None of the women have met each other but when Thursday starts to question things, she befriends the youngest wife. This is when she learns more about her beloved husband. She has even more questions now. How will she find out? Is her husband really the same person? What is the truth and how far will she go for it? This intriguing plot builds up the base for the series.

Not only will this series tell an interesting tale but it will shine the light on the topic of “polygamy marriages”. The Wives, launched in 2019, has not only been the New York Times bestseller but also has been Amazon’s Book of The Month for January, 2020. Kayla Alpert besides this is also known to be working on Tim Burton’s Addam’s Family and Netflix series “Wednesday”

At this moment, Prime Video and the makers have not casted anyone for the series and has no release dates. The series is currently at work and will definitely take some time to take a certain form.
