Amazon Developing Sequel For Prime Video Sensation Samaritan!

Amazon Prime Video is gearing up for a sequel to the 2022 superhero action film, “Samaritan,” which starred Sylvester Stallone as the titular character. The streaming giant has hired Bragi F. Schut to pen the script for the sequel, and interestingly, Schut was also the writer of the original movie.

“Samaritan” introduced audiences to a unique superhero narrative. Sylvester Stallone portrayed a super-powered vigilante who was believed to have perished in a battle with his evil twin brother, Nemesis, 25 years ago. The story revolved around a young boy named Sam Cleary who discovers that his neighbor, Joe Smith, is, in fact, Samaritan in hiding. He endeavors to convince him to come out of retirement and protect the city from a new threat.

The film was directed by Julius Avery and initially premiered exclusively on Prime Video in August 2022. It went on to exceed expectations, becoming the number one film on the streaming service for three consecutive weeks and was well-received in over 240 countries and territories.

Sylvester Stallone, who played the lead role, is set to return as a producer for the sequel, along with his Balboa Productions partner, Braden Aftergood. Stallone’s involvement in the project was secured prior to an actor’s strike, ensuring his return to the iconic character.

Schut’s creative talents extend beyond the big screen. He worked on a Dungeons & Dragons television pilot for eOne and Hasbro, showing his versatility in storytelling.

As the sequel to “Samaritan” takes shape, it promises to expand on the intriguing superhero universe introduced in the original film. With the success of the first installment, expectations are high for this upcoming addition to the franchise, and fans of the original will undoubtedly be eager to see how the story of Samaritan continues to unfold.
