Amazon Is Working On A Eight Billion Genies Film With Spider-Verse Director

Through the years, children’s literature has provided some classic films of all time, defining entertainment. Now, you can add one more name to that list.

Emerging as a graphic novel, “Eight Billion Genies” has been the center of attention since last June. Now, as Amazon actively develops the show, there should be major excitement.

The plot of the show is also intriguing: as the global population hits eight billion, a genie appears for each person. Wishes granted – instant chaos ensues. The global landscape warps: problems are solved, but unforeseen disasters emerge.

We follow the world through its initial euphoria, the scramble to adapt, and the long-term fight. Decades tick by as humanity grapples with a permanently altered reality, with some thriving and others succumbing to the ripple effects of their desires.

“8BG,” created by artist-designer Ryan Browne and writer Charles Soule, blends action, drama, and comedy in a raucous tale. Set in a Michigan pub turned magical sanctuary, the comic gained acclaim, prompting a Hollywood bidding war. Amazon Studios secured rights after just two issues.

Additionally, Rodney Rothman is set to direct the film, the brilliant mind behind the phenomenon known as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Seth Rogen will be producing it, already an established name in comedy.
