Docuseries are a staple of Netflix, and slowly but surely, Prime Video is entering the market. This time, they have landed a pretty interesting series from the minds of James Patterson and Liz Garbus.
Amazon acquired the docuseries on the 2022 murders of four University of Idaho students and is also planning a scripted version. Bryan Christopher Kohberger was charged with the murders of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin, who were found stabbed in their off-campus home in Moscow, Idaho.
Though we are yet to receive an official title for the upcoming docuseries, it will be produced by Skydance Television and Story Syndicate, directed by Liz Garbus and Matthew Galkin. Supported by the victims’ families, it follows Skydance’s option of a James Patterson and Vicky Ward book.
David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell will executive produce for Skydance Television, while James Patterson, Bill Robinson, and Patrick Santa will produce for James Patterson Entertainment. Liz Garbus, Dan Cogan, Jon Bardin, and Kate Barry will produce for Story Syndicate, with Matthew Galkin for Fairhaven.
Garbus will direct the first episode of the scripted adaptation by Amazon MGM Studios, marking the second scripted take on the 2022 murders.
