Amazon MX Player’s ‘First Copy’: Munawar Faruqui Rises As Piracy Kingpin

Amazon MX Player has dropped the official teaser for its upcoming original series ‘First Copy’ and this one after a long time looks like a great offering from the free to stream platform.

Coming this June, ‘First Copy’ is set in Mumbai during the 1990s and follows Arif (Munawar Faruqui) who infamously rises as the kingpin of film piracy along with his buddy. Having hit a jackpot, Arif plans to turn the game of movie watching by making it available to every household with his pirated version ending the need to go to the theatres and spend large bucks. He seems to live happily in denial of the crime he is committing and rather considers it a good deed.

But everyone knows it would lead him into an intricate web of distribution further entangling law enforcement, Bollywood celebrities and the criminal underworld which ultimately leads to a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase.

The retro vibe is captured well with a tinted lens in ‘First Copy’. Munawar Faruqui gets into Arif’s role quite seamlessly and overall, the background music, screenplay, and the whole set up make the teaser very intriguing and captivating.

A crime thriller gangster drama, ‘First Copy’ is directed by Farhan P. Zamma who has penned the screenplay alongside Junaid Khalifa and Janani. The series stars an ensemble cats that includes Munawar Faruqui, Gulshan Grover, Meiyang Chang, Saqib Ayub, Krystle D’Souza, Inaamulhaq, and Ashi Singh among others.

Produced by Salt media, ‘First Copy’ is set to arrive on Amazon MX Player this June.
