A few weeks back we had informed our readers that the widely acclaimed Malayalam film ‘#Home’ had not only surpassed the brilliant boxing film ‘Sarpatta Parambarai’ but had subsequently also outranked the deftly executed mystery thriller ‘Drishyam 2’ starring legendary actor Mohanlal. Consequently, ‘#Home’ had become the top-ranked Indian movie title from the year 2021 on the coveted IMDb list.
In a rather unsurprising development and in delightful news for Hindi audiences, the endearing Malayalam language relationship drama ‘#Home’ is all geared up to get its Hindi language remake. Vikram Malhotra’s Abundantia Entertainment has reportedly teamed up with the parent film’s producer Vijay Babu’s production company Friday Film House to get the Malayalam film ‘#Home’ remade in the Hindi language.
‘#Home’ is based on an uncomplicated yet relatable premise that revolves around a technologically challenged father Oliver Twist (played by Indrans), who yearns for his son’s attention in the alien world of smartphones, where everyone is immersed in social media platforms. The simple and effective storytelling is further accentuated by a heartfelt lead performance.
Abundantia Entertainment’s previous films slate comprises some critically acclaimed and commercial hits such as Baby, Airlift, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha, Shakuntala Devi, and Sherni besides also producing Amazon Prime Video series like ‘Breathe’ and its sequel ‘Breathe: Into The Shadows’. In addition to the recently announced Hindi remake of Malayalam film ‘#Home’, Abundantia’s forthcoming films slate also includes the Hindi remake of the highly-rated Tamil movie ‘Soorarai Pottru’ that featured Suriya in the lead role.
Other details like cast members, director, etc. regarding the Hindi remake of ‘#Home’ remains to be officially confirmed. Meanwhile, in case of still haven’t, you can watch the Malayalam film ‘#Home’ which is currently streaming on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform.
