Amazon Studios has picked up the buzzy, Chris Pratt-headlined thriller series, ‘The Terminal List’, after slugging it out in a bidding war involving multiple streaming platforms vying for the series. In the end, Amazon won the bid, and has ordered it as straight-to-series. The thriller is being directed by Antoine Fuqua & written by David DiGilio, and is an adaptation of Jack Carr’s bestselling novel of the same name.
The Terminal List is a conspiracy thriller series featuring Chris Pratt as James Reece, a Navy SEAL who is devastated when his platoon of SEALs is ambushed in a high-stakes covert mission. Reece holds himself culpable somehow, and once back home, ponders over his conflicting memories of the event. Soon, he realises that something was not right about the whole operation. As new evidence turns up to confirm his belief, he discovers that dark forces are working against him, and neither he nor his family is safe.
Since the show deals with SEALs and the armed forces, the makers of The Terminal List intend to seek out veterans and their families to chalk out the various aspects of the production of the series, including the writing. The creators have hired a considerable number of veterans as writers on the show or those who have veterans in their families – almost half the writers for the series belong to these categories.
The Terminal List is a joint production between Amazon Studios and Civic Center Media, a combined entity of MRC and UTA. Chris Pratt executive produces the series, as also DiGilio, via his Indivisible Productions, and Fuqua via his Fuqua Films banner.
It was Chris Pratt who had first obtained the rights to the book by Carr. Pratt brought Fuqua’s attention to it, who agreed to come on board. The duo then approached MRC, who also came on board quickly.
This is Pratt’s return to TV series, after his very popular NBC series Parks and Recreation ended in 2015. Before that, he’d done CW’s Everwood on TV.
Civic Center Media in association with MRC Television has recently produced HBO’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Outsider, an adaptation of the Stephen King novel. MRC TV also produces Netflix’s buzzy thriller Ozark.
No date has been announced for when The Terminal List will premiere on Amazon Prime Video. Watch this space at Binged.com for further details.
