Amazon Prime Losing Steam in India, Already?

amazon-prime-losing-steam-in-india-alreadyAmazon Prime users had been waiting to watch Rajinikanth’s ‘2.0’ on the digital platform and meanwhile, the HD version of the film became available on Torrent sites. Not only ‘2.0’, the HD prints of even highly successful films like ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ are available on torrent sites besides the piracy sites that release the new movies with hours.

Amazon Prime, the name sounded as if it is going to be a major threat for the business prospects of the makers as the guys at Amazon Prime kept releasing newly released films with just a gap of two or three weeks even, for some movies. But in no time, it seems to be losing its steam as soon as it emerged a threat to theatres. Prime Video got immediate attention as it targeted releasing regional films and streamed them very soon after the theatrical release.

If we look at the releases on Amazon Prime India, there are no latest releases when the subscribers are eagerly waiting for some big movies to be streamed on Prime. Once the HD prints become available on torrent sites, what advantage would the digital streaming partner have? Will the movie get any attention?
