Amazon Prime Reveals Their Line-up Of New Japanese Originals

Amazon Prime unveiled a slate of Japanese originals at a showcase event held in central Tokyo on Wednesday. The lineup includes a reboot of Kitano’s famous hit game show ‘Takeshi’s Castle’ and a local adaptation of the romantic anthology series ‘Modern Love’.
Among the other new originals are YA romantic horror adventure-comedy series ‘My Undead Yokai Girlfriend’ created by NCIS: Hawaii and Grace alums Yalun Tu and Zach Hines; a movie adaptation of Ryota Kosawa’s bestseller ‘Angel Flight’; and second seasons of the hits ‘The Masked Singer’ and ‘The Bachelorette Japan’ which will mark it’s debut in this summer.

•Takeshi’s Castle
A reboot of the hit show Takeshi’s Castle, which was hosted on TBS from 1986-1989, became one of the most acclaimed Japanese game show ever. The reboot version will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 markets (in 2023).

•Modern Love
Slated to launch in fall this year, the Japanese adaptation of Prime Video’s original romantic anthology series Modern Love based on the New York Times romance column, will feature five stars Asami Mizukawa, Hiromi Nagasaku, Yusuke Santamaria, Sosuke Ikematsu and Naomi Scott.

•My Lovely Yokai Girlfriend
It’s a romantic horror adventure comedy series about a unaccompanied college student and a yokai who unintentionally gets connected to him through a enchanting hex. This silly but potentially cute love story speedily transcends into a heroic saga following a puzzling set of murders. The premiere is on 2023.

•Angel Flight
This feature drama is also premiering on
2023, follows a group of professionals who work as international hearse repatriation experts, a job that comprises of dispatching people who have passed away abroad back to their homeland.
