Amazon Prime Sets A “Pre-Onam” OTT Release For Kuruthi!

Literally, a day after we wrote our article regarding our “Amazon Prime Video suspicions” on the upcoming Prithviraj starrer, ‘Kuruthi‘, an announcement mentioning that the movie will get a direct-to-OTT release – and it will release on Amazon Prime Video, just as we previously predicted. The movie is expected to release next month, a few days prior to the festival of Onam. Which means, even though we got the date wrong, the release of ‘Kuruthi’ is still happening directly on OTT and it will happen next month.

‘Kuruthi’ which means ritualistic sacrifice, is a Malayalam socio-political thriller that was expected to release in theatres earlier this year. But thanks to coronavirus and the ongoing “second wave”, ‘Kuruthi’s’ production company decided to release the movie directly for streaming. With the recent success South-Indian films have found on Amazon Prime Video, there is no better time to premiere the movie directly for streaming on the OTT platform.

This movie will set a few milestones upon its release. The film lead, Prithviraj will follow in the footsteps of Fahadh Faasil in leading at least two direct-to-OTT films to premiere on an OTT platform (following ‘Cold Case’). The rest of the movie cast includes Mamukkoya, Roshan Mathew, Shine Tom Chacko, Srindaa, Murali Gopi, Manikanda Rajan, Naslen, Sagar Surya and Navas Vallikkunnu.

Prithviraj’s upcoming thriller, ‘Kuruthi’ is expected to premiere on Amazon Prime Video, a few days before the festival of Onam, on August 11th 2021. Check out the trailer for the film down below:
