Kannada language period action drama ‘Kantara‘ (Mysterious Forest), written and directed by Rishab Shetty (Ricky, Kirik Party) has been gathering rave reviews since its theatrical release on 30th September, 2022. The film has also impressed its target audience despite facing direct clash from PS-1 and Vikram Vedha.The streaming rights of the film has been bagged by Amazon Prime Video.
The film was shot in Rishab Shetty’s hometown Keraadi, Kundapura. The story travels through three distinct time periods: 1870, 1970, and 1990. The film is a folklore interwoven with the cultures rooted in Bhootha Kola and Kambla. The film follows a human and nature conflict where Shiva is the rebellion who works against nature. A loop leads to war between villagers and evil forces.
Kantara is produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner of Hombale Films. The production house has taken the Kannada Film Industry to bigger heights post its gargantuan success with KGF. Dharani Gange Putra handled the production design. Editing was done by K. M. Prakash and Pratheek Shetty.
