Amazon Prime Video has recently revealed that it has commissioned a sport documentary series on Fernando Alonso, former Formula 1 World Champion, and arguably, the best the world has ever seen. Titled ‘Fernando’, the 5-part docuseries is currently in post-production, and will release later this year.
Amazon Prime Video has an excellent roster of sport documentary series in its content library. The excellent All or Nothing franchise, Andy Murray: Resurfacing, This is Football, The Test: A New Era for Australia’s Team, are some of the great sport documentaries Prime Video has produced in recent years. Fernando will make a worthy addition to the lot.
‘Fernando’ has been described as an intimate and personal portrait of the Formula One’s world champion Fernando Alonso, and it will follow the life and times of the driver, on and off the track. Audiences will relive Alonso’s best triumphs, his endeavours post retirement from Formula 1 racing, as well as his months-long preparation ahead of his debut at the prestigious Dakar Rally in South America. It will also give viewers insights into his feats at the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The series will also have segments featuring chats with Alonso’s inner circle members – his manager Luis García Abad, sister Lorena Alonso, partner Linda Morselli and a few of his high-profile colleagues like Carlos Sainz.
Javier Mendez, director of global content at The Mediopro Studio, the production company handling ‘Fernando’, said, “The series will offer a personal and up-close vision of the champion, quite different from the public profile we have seen. Fernando is a winner and his goal along this year has been to demonstrate that he is the best driver in any four wheels vehicle.”
‘Fernando’ will premiere on Amazon Prime Video some time later this year. Watch this space at Binged.com for fresh and exclusive updates on this story.
