Amazon Prime Video Has Been Conspicuously Missing From All the Hullabaloo Surrounding RRR Movie!

By Binged Bureau - May 27, 2021 @ 08:05 am

S S Rajamouli’s buzzy period drama ‘RRR’ has shattered records with the selling of the satellite and digital rights of the film. ZEE5 has grabbed the streaming rights for the Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada versions of the film. But here comes the interesting bit – streaming giant Netflix has grabbed the streaming rights to the lucrative Hindi version of the star-studded film.

Not just Hindi, Netflix has also bagged global streaming rights for RRR – it will stream the film in English, Portuguese, Korean, Turkish and Spanish languages. That is quite a leap for a Telugu film, not to say, for Indian films overall. S S Rajamouli’s equity too has risen massively after the thumping success of the two Baahubali films.

RRR is the most talked about film of recent times. Its stellar cast and crew, as also its premise, have made it one of the most awaited films in Indian cinema. The story of RRR is written by K. V. Vijayendra Prasad, and it is directed by S S Rajamouli, the father-son duo was also the writer & director of Baahubali. It stars N. T. Rama Rao Jr., Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt and Olivia Morris in pivotal roles, along with Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson and Alison Doody in supporting roles.

RRR’s digital streaming rights have been a topic of hot discussion in social media and industry circles. Everyone was keen to know which streamer will bag the streaming rights for RRR. Netflix has pulled off a coup of sorts by finally grabbing the streaming rights for RRR in its Hindi version – the version that will get the most eyeballs in India. Viewership for the South language versions will be confined to the southern states of India mostly.

Amazon Prime Video has been conspicuously missing from all the hullabaloo surrounding RRR. Netflix has beaten its primary rival streaming platform in picking up the lucrative Hindi streaming rights to one of the most sought-after films in India. Let’s see which film’s OTT rights are picked up by Amazon Prime Video to get back into the game.
