Many of you should know by now, the hit Bollywood black-comedy crime thriller, ‘Andhadhun‘ is getting a Malayalam remake and the film will drop on Amazon Prime Video next month. Titled, ‘Bhramam‘, the filmmakers have just released a small first look “teaser” through a lyrical song video called ‘Munthiripoovo’. While the song is quite catchy, this lyrical song video looks eerily similar to another lyrical song video, from another recently released Andhadhun remake – ‘Maestro‘.
The previously mentioned song, Munthiripoovo, is expected to be the “replacement song” for ‘Baby Oh! Baby’ from Maestro and ‘Naina Da Kya Kasoor’ from the original. While Munthiripoovo is not as good as the original song it is replacing (which is Naina Da Kya Kasoor), it is still quite snappy and interesting. The song dropped on the official YouTube channel of AP International films – check it out at the end of this article.
While a lot of Malayalis are eagerly waiting for this film, this movie might not do as well as many would think. ‘Maestro’, the Telugu remake of the aforementioned Andhadhun – which was pretty much a shot-for-shot remake – wasn’t as well-received as the Hindi original when it had been released for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar last week. The movie got mixed reviews and we don’t think Bhramam can do any better unless there is a major change to the story.
With only a couple of weeks remaining before Bhramam drops, we wouldn’t be surprised if get a teaser or even a trailer within the week. While the movie might not be as good as Andhadhun, we hope that the filmmakers have given us something different, to keep us invested in the movie.
Bhramam will premiere directly for streaming on Amazon Prime Video on October 7th 2021.
