Amazon Prime Video’s Panchayat: 3 Potential Spin-Off Ideas

After two fantastic seasons, fans of Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Panchayat’ are now eagerly waiting for the release of ‘Panchayat Season-3’. But an official release date is yet to be announced by the streaming service.

Usually, there is a significant gap between any two seasons of a painstakingly made series like ‘Panchayat’. The wait becomes killing. To counter that, the makers of ‘Panchayat’ can think of making spin-off shows set in the same universe. For instance, the way Sunny Hinduja’s character in ‘Aspirants’ got a separate spin-off titled ‘Sandeep Bhaiya’ before ‘Aspirants S2’ premiered on Prime Video. It beautifully filled the gap between S1 & S2.

So, for this write-up, we have shortlisted three ideas / characters / scenarios based on which Prime Video can churn out three potential spin-off series which can be released between different seasons of the parent series ‘Panchayat’. So, Amazon Prime Video – the ball is in your court now!

1. The Three Musketeers (Prequel / Spin-off)
The three characters of Pradhan Pati, Up-Pradhan, and the Office Assistant (we like to call them the three musketeers – it’s not a title) share an amusing and strong bond with each other in the ‘Panchayat’ series. These roles have been adeptly essayed by Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik, and Chandan Roy, respectively. And we think a prequel / spin-off series based on the hilarious misadventures of these three characters will be an entertaining watch for OTT audiences.

2. Village Pradhan (Sequel / Spin-off)
Manju Devi, the role of the Pradhan of Phulera village and Raghubir Yadav’s wife has been played by Neena Gupta. Her well-written role in the main series is more of a guest appearance and not a full-fledged one. An actress of her caliber deserves a separate show, and a spin-off can potentially be set after the events of ‘Panchayat Season-2’ when the Secretary leaves the village and tries to manage things on her own.

3. Different Secretary (Prequel)
As you know, ‘Panchayat’ follows a jobless engineering graduate (Jitendra Kumar), who reluctantly accepts the post of Secretary of a panchayat office in a remote village of Uttar Pradesh. We are aware that Jitendra Kumar’s character is the heart and soul of the show in the eyes of many fans.

Still, we think it would be an interesting idea to make a ‘Panchayat’ prequel series which features a different lead actor than Jitendra Kumar. The potential prequel could focus on the struggles of the previous Panchayat Secretary before the arrival of Jitendra Kumar’s character and his relationship with various existing characters of Phulera.
