Amazon Prime Video’s Top 10 Films & Series: KGF, Dune & More

OTT giant Amazon Prime Video houses a list of the top ten titles streaming in India on the platform. As of today, the title which has topped the aforementioned list is Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal starrer ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’.

While Prashanth Neel’s directorial ‘K.G.F: Chapter 1’ is placed in the second spot. Moreover, the third spot is held by the period romantic drama ‘Radhe Shyam’ starring Prabhas.

10. K.G.F: Chapter 1 (Telugu)

Set mainly in the 1970s period, the film narrates a rags-to-riches story of a young, poverty-stricken boy who goes to Mumbai and becomes an elite and fearless assassin. For his latest assignment, he masquerades as a laborer and enters the Kolar Gold Fields to kill the ruthless KGF boss Garuda.

9. Mirzapur

The series follows a cunning businessman Akhandanand Tripathi aka Kaleen Bhaiya (Pankaj Tripathi) who makes illegal guns. To expand his business, he hires two brothers – the brawny Guddu (Ali Fazal) and the brainy Bablu (Vikrant Massey). Things take an explosive turn when the duo gets into the bad books of Akhandanand’s power-hungry son Munna (Diveyundu Sharma).

8. Pushpa: The Rise (Hindi)

The first part of the Telugu action-drama flick features Allu Arjun, Fahadh Faasil, and Rashmika Mandanna. The film’s plot revolves around the titular protagonist Pushpa Raj (played by Allu Arjun), who essays the role of a truck driver amidst the backdrop of red sandalwood smuggling in the forests of South India.

7. Jalsa

Helmed by Suresh Triveni, the film is an investigative thriller whose plotline revolves around a hit and run case where the victim is an 18-year-old girl. The goings-on are narrated from the point of view of an outstanding journalist (played by Vidya Balan) and a distressed mother (Shefali Shah) as they navigate through the legal and moral rigmarole to bring the culprit to justice.

6. The Family Man

A Raj & DK’s creation, the show follows the daredevil adventures of a middle-class family man (brilliantly played by Manoj Bajpayee), who balances his quotidian family life with an elite, high-risk job of being a world-class spy. While keeping his job a secret from his family, the show follows his mission to protect his country from terrorists at any cost.

5. Naradan

The film is a political thriller film whose story revolves around renowned news anchor Chandraprakash (played by Tovino Thomas). Bowing to pressure from the top brass, he transforms himself into a morally compromised and ruthless journalist who can go to any lengths to be on the top spot in the cutthroat world of journalism.

4. Dune

The sci-fi film has been helmed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049). Set in a distant future, the movie follows the young protagonist (played by Timothée Chalamet) and his journey to the dangerous desert planet called Arrakis aka Dune, which is known to possess the most precious substance called melange.

3. Radhe Shyam

Written and directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, ‘Radhe Shyam’ is a period romance drama set in 1970s Europe. The film’s plot follows the story of a gifted palmist Vikramaditya (Prabhas) who does not believe in long-lasting romantic relationships. However, things change when he falls for a beautiful female doctor Prerna (Pooja Hedge).

1. Sharmaji Namkeen

The film is a family entertainer starring Late actor Rishi Kapoor (his last on-screen outing) and Paresh Rawal essaying the same titular role as B.G. Sharma aka Sharmaji. The movie’s plot revolves around the West-Delhi-based middle-class, 58-year-old widower and how he discovers his hidden passion for cooking as he tries to cope with his post-retirement life. The film also features Rishi Kapoor’s former co-star Juhi Chawla.
