The highly anticipated romantic comedy film ‘Sara’s‘ dropped on Amazon Prime Video at midnight today and it has been receiving decent-to-good reviews, so far. The direct-to-OTT released Malayalam feature film talks about the very important “untalked about” topic of a woman’s right to her own body, without being overly aggressive in its tone regarding its underlying message. This movie is a must-watch for this reason alone, but we will list a few more in this article.
The Anna Ben – Sunny Wayne starrer is a cute, feel-good film with an important message, but the execution of the message (in the movie) needs work. Still, this movie is funny and quite entertaining with memorable side characters and brilliant dialogue. In fact, the dialogue is one of the best features of the screenplay, making it a must-watch, while the plot needs more work (towards the end).
Another reason for this movie to be a must-watch is strictly for the Malayalam language speakers (or frequent Malayalam film viewers) are the number of hidden movie references throughout this film. There is at least one film reference popping up every five minutes in this feel-good entertainer which required some prior knowledge of Malayalam films. There are also some jokes in this movie as well which will go over the heads of the people who do not belong to the previously mentioned category.
And finally, the movie should be watched for both Anna Ben and Sunny Wayne themselves. Our main star is Anna Been who puts up a brilliantly authentic performance, while Sunny plays a very relatable, funny love interest to Anna’s Sara. Every time they are on-screen, it looks like they are improvising dialogue (again shows the marks of a good scriptwriter), which means that they managed to make it their own.
Check out this movie on Amazon Prime Video now and see it for yourselves.
