Amazon Studios Names Top Netflix Marketing Exec Christian Davin As Global Head Of Movies Marketing

Netflix’s loss is Amazon’s gain. In a recent development, Amazon Studios has appointed top Netflix marketing man Christian Davin as its Global Head of Movies Marketing. Davin will be responsible for handling the marketing of the entire movies slate at Amazon Studios, including both cinematic and digital releases. He will report to Andy Donkin, Head of Marketing at Amazon Prime Video.

Christian Davin comes to Amazon straight from Netflix, where he held the position of VP, Global Creative Marketing for Films. While at Netflix, Davin had overseen the worldwide marketing for all of Netflix‘s recent much-talked-about movies, such as Roma, Bird Box, Dolemite, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, The Kissing Booth, Murder Mystery and The Irishman.

Before his stint at Netflix, Davin was with another filmmaking behemoth, Warner Bros., for nine years. In those nine years, he held various crucial positions at Warner Bros., which are SVP Creative Advertising, EVP Creative Advertising and EVP Worldwide Global Content and Sponsorships. Whilst at Warner Bros. he handled the creative marketing campaigns for scores of projects including Academy Award winner Argo, A Star Is Born, Creed, 42, The Town, and Get Hard, among others.

Davin’s responsibilities at Amazon Studios will be similar to what he handled at Netflix until now, including the designing and execution of film campaigns for the entire films slate at Amazon Studios, including theatrical and streaming. Vincent Scordino, senior marketing and distribution manager, and Molly Albright, head of creative marketing, will directly report to Davin.
