Amazon’s Next Is ‘NOPE’ Star’s Action Comedy By Hawkeye Director

The industry is taking note of Amazon’s slow rise. A few days after the reveal that Prime Video has overtaken Netflix to be the #1 streaming service in the US, the studio keeping up the momentum has already acquired rights for an anticipated project titled ‘Moxie’.

‘Moxie’ is touted to be an action comedy and will star Keke Palmer. The movie will be directed by Bert, who has directed multiple episodes of Disney’s ‘Hawkeye’ series. It will be about “a foul-mouthed stripper who pisses off the FBI in a big way when she somehow becomes the best candidate for their fancy new agent program”.

The script will be written by ‘Werewolf By Night’ writer Heather Quinn. Quinn is a frequent collaborating partner with Bert and has also worked together in ‘Hawkeye’. Palmer will be co-producing the film.

Star Keke Palmer seems to be having a brilliant 2022. Her last release was the universally acclaimed science fiction horror film ‘NOPE’, which is currently an award-season favorite. In fact, Palmer had won Best Supporting Actress from the New York Film Critics Association for her scene-stealing role in the film. The mentioned award ceremony is a very prestigious one and her win has increased the probability and buzz around the increased chance to get a nomination at the upcoming Oscars. Interestingly, it is at the same award ceremony that Indian star director S.S. Rajamouli won Best Director for his Telugu language film ‘RRR’.

Amazon’s acquisitions as of late have all been very big projects, one amongst them being the international spy thriller ‘Red Shirt’ starring Channing Tatum. With their strategy showing results already, it is expected to see a lot more of such acquisitions spree from the streamer to keep up its place at the top.
